SCOTLAND
I took a break in Scotland a while back,
and I really enjoyed driving up there and back actually - even if it was
10 or so hours each way. Some marvellous scenery up there, sadly none of
Loch Ness. I wanted to get to Uruqhart Castle, but the road I followed,
signposted "loch tour" took us round the arse end of the loch with
minimal view! Anyway, these are pics I took of other places in Scotland.
Where in Scotland, I've no idea!
 This is a fairly big
image, it's of a marshy area. I pulled over here to pee behind a moss
covered hill not far from the road
 Again, a big pic.
This is facing towards the road, just behind where I was standing to
take the above shot. In the back right, there is a stone sticking up
from the puddle - this is what I wanted to photograph, but because the
ground was soaking wet, I didn't want to kneel or lie down, obviously.
So I took pot luck and just put the camera on the floor, pointed it in
roughly the direction of the puddle and stone, and took the photo. What
I wanted is barely visible and doesn't work. But what I got instead is
probably better than the result I'd have got if my intended shot worked
properly! So I'm not complaining.
 This was taken in a
car park at the side of a road running straight through a valley. On
either side, massive hills - I'd go so far as to call them mountains!
This shot is to the left of the road as I was travelling along it.
Months and months after this picture was taken, I bought 'Monty Python
And The Holy Grail' on DVD. On the extras disc, is a feature of Palin &
Jones revisiting some of the locations used in making the film in 1974.
There is a shot of these hills/mountains taken from damn near the exact
same spot I was standing! They filmed the Bridge Of Death for 'The Holy
Grail' not far from here - off shot to the left somewhere. I was stunned
when I saw the shot of these hills from near enough the same spot I was!
Only difference being that my shot was zoomed out more so I could take
in the sheer SIZE of these hills/mountains/things.
 I was quite
chuffed when this shot came out - I've turned just to the right of the
above shot. Beautiful scenery with the sun reflecting off the loch in
the valley. What you don't see though, is the big yellow 'No overnight
parking' sign just millimetres out of shot beneath the frame.
